Madden Cemetery

Madden Cemetery is located four miles east of Fryeburg, Louisiana in Bienville Parish on Madden Mill Creek Road. It was established in 1856 on land donated by J. W. Madden(deed dated 1938), son of Reed Madden.

The following information was taken from gravestones and recorded by Hoy and Eunice Grigsby on May 11, 1994. It was updated by J. B. Garrett on January 2001. The survey begins on the west side of the cemetery and is recorded by rows going north to south.

Located in the center eastern part of the cemetery are slaves graves. Some are marked only with brick markers and some are unmarked as wooden markers are now gone. It is thought that these are part of the Sheppard and Calloway families.
