Schiller, Betty Elaine | 8-20-1920 | 1-21-2006 | b. Wichita ks, d. Goddard ks Sedgwick co, D/O Walter and Mae (Ralston) Hutchinson. She spent her childhood in Goddard, Kan., she she was active in 4H and graduated from Goddard High School with the class of 1938. She attended Kansas State University, where she was a member of Clovia 4H sorority, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics in 1942. On June 7, 1942, Betty married George W. Schiller in the Goddard Baptist Church. They began married life in Kansas City, MO and later would live in Sterling, Kan, Wellington, Kan., Enid, Okla., Arkansas City, Kan. and most recently Wichita at Prairie Homestead Retirement Community. In each community, Betty, a homemaker, was active in various civic organizations as a volunteer. She was a tireless worker in the Baptist Church, serving not only her local congregation, but also the regional and state American Baptist Churches of the Central Region and the American Baptist Women. She also was a Red Cross volunteer for many years, on the local election board, in PTA, and was both a Camp Fire and Girl Scout leader. In addition, she was a lifetime member of the Ninnescah Chpater of Eastern Star. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; three siblings; her husband and their eldest daughter, Nancy Conley. |
