Briscoe, Donald Gene 3-2-1930 10-4-2005 b. Ness City ks Ness Co, d. Great Bend ks Barton co, S/O Herbert L. and Lula Crider Briscoe. A Great Bend resident, moving from Ness City, he was a retired storekeeper for Western Power. He belonged to First United Methodist Church, and the American Legion Argonne Post No. 180, both at Great Bend. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On May 2, 1952, he married Joyce Strait. She died Oct. 30, 1989. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert John Briscoe; three brothers; and a sister.

Orville Klitzke, 97, Ness City, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Ness County Long Term Care. He was born April 1, 1908, in Ransom to Conrad Fredrick and Lena (Ummel) Klitzke. He married Beulah Schaefer on Feb. 20, 1933, in Scott City. He was a farmer. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cheryl Dawson, York, Pa., and a brother, Virgil Klitzke, Ransom. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City; burial in Ness City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the First Mennonite Church or Ness City Library. Switzer, Gene E. 8-28-1929 7-31-2005 b. Ness City ks Ness co, d. Dodge City ks Ford co, S/O Fred and Ethel Eitel Switzer. He graduated from Ness City High School. A resident of Dodge City since 1976, moving from Scott City, he was a self-employed independent trucker for 30 years and also worked for Excel Corporation at Dodge City in quality control, retiring in 1999. He was preceded in death by a brother, Garry Switzer; and a sister, Arlene Vandergrift.
