Larmer, Robert Frank | 3-3-1925 | 11-25-2005 | b. Sylvan Grove ks Lincoln co, d. Overland Park ks Johnson co, S/O Irene Kirkpatrick Larmer and Frank Robert Larmer. He was raised in Wichita, Kansas and resided there until his recent illness. His mothers' love of the game of golf inspired her to name him after Bobby Jones, the American golf icon. The name suited him and he greatly enjoyed playing rounds of golf throughout his entire life with his wife, daughters, son-in-laws, grandsons and many friends. He graduated from Wichita North High School in 1943. He was a First Class Radio Corpsman and was assigned to battleship duty on the Iowa, New Jersey and Indianapolis. He served under the Admirals Flagship and experienced heavy military action during major campaigns in the South Pacific. Bobby married Vivian Elizabeth Burrus, on June 22, 1947. Their marriage of 58 years has served as a living example of unselfish love, dedication and devotion for their two daughters and their families as well as their many friends. Their home was always filled with laughter and their generous hospitality reflected their joy in living life to its' fullest with no regrets. Bobby received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Wichita University and was self-employed as an Investment Banker for 38 years. His career was highlighted by many professional accomplishments and he was a pioneer in the Industrial Revenue Bond business. He was an Eagle Scout and belonged to the Albert Pike Masonic Lodge for 52 years. After his retirement in 1988, Bobby continued to work as a Tax Preparer for H&R Block. Perhaps his greatest joy in life was the relationship he had with his two grandsons. Papa especially enjoyed the summers he spent at Walloon Lake Michigan with his family and large extended family. |
